From Gemstone to Finished Piece

In preparation for Couture, a fine jewelry trade show in Las Vegas, I have been finishing up so many new designs. The most recent piece to come off the bench is this beautiful "Star Crossed Lovers" bracelet. The idea came to me after finding a unique rutilated quartz while at the Tucson Gem Show.

As I mention in the video, I love the sandy background of the stone and the crossed rutiles remind me of stars – it's just a super unique specimen. In this piece, I'm starting to experiment with positive and negative space; playing with cabochon shapes both within and outside borders. And, I used yellow cabochons and diamond-set 18k gold cabochons to bring out the shimmery golden rutiles even more.

The result is a bold, gold, sparkling bracelet that looks incredible on any wrist!
